Emily (Amodeo) FergusonHe was my dad ❤️My favorite childhood memory of my dad is probably him turning on Phil Collins, cranking the music up in the living room, and dancing around with us. Those are the moments that still make me smile.
When I got married I chose You’ll be in my arms for my daddy daughter dance because Phil Collins will always remind me of my dad.
As I got older, he continued to show up for me in so many ways. When I moved into my very first apartment, he bought me furniture to help make it feel like home and even went shopping for it with me. He and Julie welcomed my puppy, Bella, into their home and gave her the love and care she deserved.
If I had a question about my house, he always had the answer. If he couldn’t fix it himself, he’d say, “I’ll send one of my guys,” and somehow everything would get taken care of.
I wish I had more memories and more time with him, but I am incredibly grateful for the last eight months we had together. We made it a point to meet almost every week for breakfast or lunch, just to sit, talk, and spend time together. Those simple moments will forever be some of my most treasured memories.
I will forever be thankful for that extra time. It is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
